For quite some time now I have been trying to connect my iDJ Pro to my Macbook. I contacted Numark and Algoriddim to see if this was possible and they replied with; “This is not supported” and “This is not possible”. I thought this was a great shame, surely this would make this controller appeal to many more users, thus improving sales and transforming it into a multi platform controller.
I was determined to make this work. The main problem was that the only input on the iDJ Pro (excluding the AUX input and mic) is an Apple 30 pin connector. I searched the web to no avail and tried numerous cables and numerous combinations, buy nothing seemed to work. I spent many sleepless nights learning all I could about USB’s, 30 pin connectors, drivers, midi ect…..
Finally one summers evening I made a break through and had a Eureka moment! Over the next week I managed to fine tune it to work as if you had an iPad connected. All the crossfader, volume control, platters and effects work perfectly, the library select knob and even the recording feature works too.
I have also got this controller working with Traktor Pro software but as I have not used this software much I only have limited knowledge for it and thus only have basic mapping for it at the moment. Unfortunately I am still in the process of getting this all to run correctly on Windows, but I am working on it! Currently I this will only be available to Mac users.
I am unsure which direction I will take this project in at the moment. I have spent many days and nights and a fair penny trying to find a solution to this problem. I will asses interest and demand for this and possibly go down the route of manufacturing the specialist cables. Rest assured I am not doing any of this for money; I’ll just want to cover my costs.
